Facilities and services at the Biola campus in La Mirada are available to students at all BOLD Program locations. Office hours are typically from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, unless otherwise stated. For Interterm (January) and Summer (June-August) hours or for other information, please call the department directly.
ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

The Accounting Office services include account information, billing and settlement, payment plan arrangement, and check cashing.
An ATM is available in Student Union Building (lower level) 24 hours a day with valid student ID card.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Students who have completed 12 or more units are considered alum when they leave Biola. If you leave Biola you will become a member of the Alumni Association and will be eligible to participate in the activities and services of the association. AUTOMOBILES / PARKING

Parking at the La Mirada campus is available in designated student lots. All cars parked on campus must have a Biola University parking sticker issued by the Campus Safety Office. In La Mirada, vehicles may be registered (and stickers issued) at Registration or contact the BOLD Program Office.
At all other BOLD Program locations, there is no charge for parking; neither sticker nor vehicle registration is required.
AUXILIARY SERVICES

The Office of Auxiliary Services includes the following departments: Housing Services, Food Services, Conference Services, and the Biola Bookstore. Any concerns that cannot be resolved through regular channels should be brought to the attention of the Director of Auxiliary Services. Housing services can provide an Off-Campus Housing list upon request.
BOOKSTORE

Available are course textbooks, supplies, general books, Bibles, gift items, Christian music, food and beverages, greeting cards, photo processing, as well as university logo clothing and items.
Textbooks may be ordered online at www.biolabookstore.com. Students will need to provide the following information: name, address, phone number, student ID#, payment method (VISA, M/C, or Discover) or financial aid (SS# will be needed), class name, term, quantity, new/used, author, title, and edition. Books may also be ordered via phone at 1-800-MY-BIOLA.
Students may purchase textbooks with monies on their student account using a Book Slip. Book Slips are available in the Accounting Department.
Book requests can be sent to a student’s class or home address. Books going to the Education Centers will be delivered by the courier and will not incur any shipping charges. Please allow one week for delivery.

Because no security system can completely eliminate crime, it is expected that each member of the campus community will participate by contributing their alertness to the safety and security of the campus. Please assist by valuing campus facilities, respecting the personal property of others, and reporting any strange or suspicious circumstances you observe.
On the La Mirada campus, Campus Safety is on duty 24 hours a day. Assistance is provided upon request. To contact them, use the switchboard in Metzger Hall, or dial "0" from any campus phone. Campus escorts are available after dark. For emergencies, dial ext. 5111 from any on-campus phone.
At Education Centers, students are expected to obey the policies and procedures of the host church/facility, and to follow the direction of the security personnel. Emergency procedures will be provided to you by your Education Center Director.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

The Office of Career Development provides career counseling, personality/skills testing, information on employment, as well as projections and trends in various careers. Information regarding job acquisition skills, such as resume writing, interviewing, and research techniques are provided, in addition to a career library and periodic on-campus employer recruitment. Preparation for graduate school includes software for GRE, GMAT, LSAT tests, and graduate school directories.
Career Workshops may be held periodically at the Education Centers. Students may contact their Education Center for details.

CHAPLAIN

Among other duties, the university Chaplain provides pastoral counseling and encouragement. He is also available to speak with students regarding the spiritual atmosphere on campus, chapel programs, discipleship programs, or any other area of personal concern.
While the Chaplain is available to all students, BOLD Program students may find it more convenient to speak to a local representative if outside of the La Mirada area. Students may contact their Education Center for information.
COMPUTER LAB

Use of the lab is free to Biola students. However, a Computer and Printer (CAP) account must be opened. (This may be done in the lab.) Allow one business day for the processing of a new CAP account.
Both MacIntosh and Wintel PC machines that use Mac OS X and Windows XP software are available for use. Printer points may be purchased to print on a color laser or inkjet. Printer points never expire and will roll over each semester.
Computers are available at each Education Center; contact the office in advance to schedule a time slot.
COMPUTER STORE

COUNSELING CENTER

The Biola Counseling Center provides counseling services for students, faculty, and staff as well as the community. A reduced fee schedule is available for Biola affiliated clients. The Biola Counseling Center is firmly committed to maintaining the confidentiality of all who visit the center. Information obtained will not be communicated outside the center without the client’s written permission, except as required by law.
While the Counseling Center is available to all students, BOLD Program students may find it more convenient to seek a local counselor if outside of the La Mirada area. Please contact the Education Center for information on local counseling services.
DISABILITY SERVICES - THE LEARNING CENTER

The university provides a variety of services as well as accommodations for students with learning disabilities, medical conditions, and emotional conditions that substantially interfere with students' participation and success in Biola University's academic and non-academic programs. Students with such conditions are encouraged to schedule an intake interview with the Learning Center Director to determine the level of accommodation needed. In most cases, an in-person interview will be arranged at the student's Education Center.

Services include: varieties of paper, pads, various binding options, term papers, thesis, tabs, collating, stapling, carbonless copies, cutting, drilling, folding, competitive prices, self-service copier, prayer letters, transparencies, wedding announcements and accessories, greeting cards, business cards, letterhead, stationery, thank you notes, posters, and more.

HEALTH CENTER

The Student Health Center is an acute care, walk-in facility. Appointments can be made for nurses or physician. Services are available for $35 per visit. Other charges may be assessed. Clients are responsible for payment for visits, medications, supplies, or laboratory fees at time of service. There is no insurance billing or student account billing. Payment is expected at the time of service by cash, check or credit card.
There are no on-site medical facilities at the BOLD Program locations, however, a list of emergency and non-emergency local facilities is maintained by the Education Center.
Student health insurance is available. To qualify, a student must be currently enrolled and not on a break from classes.
I.D. CARDS (Auxiliary Services)

The university identification system utilizes a plastic photo card. This card is used to check out library materials, gain admission to certain university events, enter the cafeteria or certain university facilities after hours, and for personal identification. Your ID photo will be taken at Registration prior to Term 1. To keep the card current, an updated sticker will be issued each subsequent term. Replacement cards are $20 and may be purchased from Auxiliary Services.

LIBRARY

The Library Reference Staff, in cooperation with the Research Project Advisor and the module instructors, will provide instruction in basic information gathering, including basics of database searching and critical thinking skills. These lifelong learning skills are essential preparation to effectively function in this “information society.” You are encouraged to utilize the services and resources of the library. Catalog and other resources are also available online.
With your Biola ID number and Portal password, most of our databases are remotely accessible (from their home or work networked computers). Many journal articles and reference works are available online, full text. Interlibrary Loan requests may be sent by e-mail. Using the Interlibrary Request forms, they can ask for books or photocopies of our paper journals not available online to be sent by courier to the Education Center.
At each Education Center, a small library is maintained. Please contact the Center Director for policies and procedures on access. Courier delivery of books and journal articles from the Biola Library is also available. A list of nearby libraries, including local UC and Cal State libraries, is available (along with policies on their use) from your Education Center.
MAIL SERVICES

Mail Services handles all campus and U.S. mail on the La Mirada campus. Students may mail packages and purchase postal supplies, including envelopes, postcards, stamps, and foreign air sheets. Outgoing U.S. mail is picked up at 3 pm, Mon - Fri.
On-campus mail is postage-free, but must include the recipient’s full name and office or department. On-campus bulk mailings must be approved by the Office of Student Affairs. Mail Services is not intended for use by off-campus organizations, churches, advertising enterprises, personal interest groups, or other non-Biola organizations.
For communicating with BOLD Program staff and/or faculty, students are encouraged to use the group mailbox or bag. Mail is delivered and picked up each time a module meets.
The courier delivery system operates at each Education Center, allowing students to send and/or receive materials in a timely manner to and from the main campus in La Mirada and the other Education Centers. Please check with the Center Director for the courier schedule.
