Evening performances [Thursday through Saturday] are at 8 PM and Sundays have a 4 PM matinee. Tickets are $8 for Biola student, staff, alumni, administrators, and faculty; $10 per ticket for all others. Contact Janet Oldfield at (562) 944-0351, x. 4804 for group rates of 20 or more.

This marks the 15th anniversary of Biola's first production of this comedy which was presented in 1994 and featured Biola professor Dr. Todd Lewis as one of the victims of "The Nerd."

"The Nerd" tells the story of Viet Nam war veteran and architect Willum Cubbert who was saved by Rick Steadman, an annoying young man who comes to live with his "friend" and makes his life miserable. Guilty over his feelings to get rid of the man who saved his life, Willum and his friends try their best but Rick just won't leave...until there is an unexpected twist at the end of the play. Critics say this comedy is in the uproarious traditions of Shue's first play, The Foreigner, and is silly, hilarious, and preposterously funny. Be prepared to laugh until you hurt!!

Interested in “Curtain Time in London, England” May 31-June 8, 2010?

The Department of Communication Studies is planning a Biola Summer School tour to London, England with a focus on London Theatre offerings. Dr. Todd Lewis is tour organizer and Education First Tours will provide the service. We have 3 going, but need 5 to join the others from other schools. The tour, operated by Education First Tours, will include round-trip airfare from LAX, 7 overnight stays in hotels, European breakfast and dinner daily, 7 Day Visitor Underground Travel card, coach tours, walking tours, 2 theatre performances in London, and excursions to Stratford-On-Avon, Hampton Court, and Bath, with optional theatre workshops and backstage tours. Approximate cost is $3400 per student.

We need at least one or two more female Biola students to sign up for the tour by the end of November 2009. (The sooner you indicate and pay a down-payment the cheaper the tour.) Rooming opportunities are in triples or quads in hotels in London only.

You must email Dr. Lewis ASAP if you are a female Biola student and are interested in this tour. Contact him at todd.lewis@biola.edu on bubbs or leave him a phone message at x. 5456 as soon as is possible.
